Happy Valentines Day!

Did you know that Valentines Day is named after a man in the time of the Roman empire? his name was Valentine, and he was a preacher who preformed weddings. The story is that the Emperor wanted to go to war but his troops didn’t want too because they wanted to stay home with their families. So the Emperor ordered that from then on, no-one could get married. That way there would be no new families. And the troops would have no reason to stay home. But Valentine kept performing marriages. When the Emperor found out about Valentine he had him arrested and thrown into prison. Now the jailer had a daughter who was blind and she was the one who fed the prisoners, including Valentine. He would talk to her every day when she brought him his food. He prayed to God every day, asking Him to give the girl her sight. And one day her sight came back to her. She went running back to her Dad and they both believed in God. The jailer (who believed in God now) wanted to set Valentine free, so he went to the Emperor and begged for him to let Valentine go. But the Emperor refused. In fact, he ordered that Valentine be executed. So the jailer told Valentine that he wanted to help him escape but Valentine said no. He said that if it was God’s will that he should die, then he was ready. Valentine was executed but the jailer and his daughter continued his ministry. It’s believed to have been on Valentines Day, and it seems that the day was meant to celebrate his death, but I celebrate the day because of what Valentine did in his life.😃
